If you're in the marketing or community building space, chances are you've used or at least heard of Discord and Slack. Both platforms offer similar features and are popular among users. So, which one is the right choice for you? Let's take a closer look at the two platforms to see how they compare.

Discord

Discord is a communication platform that allows users to connect with each other via text, audio, or video. It's primarily used by gamers but has also become popular among other communities, such as marketers and small businesses. Discord is free to use and offers a variety of features, such as server creation, voice channels, direct messaging, and more.

Slack

Slack is a communication platform that allows users to connect with each other via text, audio, or video. It's primarily used by businesses and teams but has also become popular among other communities, such as marketers and small businesses. Slack offers a free basic plan and paid premium plans that offer additional features, such as unlimited message history, file storage, and more.

Discord or Slack?

Both Discord and Slack are popular communication platforms that offer a variety of features to users. While Discord is free to use, Slack offers a free basic plan as well as paid premium plans. Both platforms are popular among gamers and other communities, such as marketers and small businesses. So, which one should you choose? Ultimately, the decision comes down to personal preference and your needs. If you need more robust features or expanded storage capacity, Slack might be the better choice. However, if you're just getting started or are on a tight budget, Discord could be the way to go.

Something important to note before you decide is how comfortable is your audience using the platform. A younger audience around Gen Z seems to prefer Discord while millennials and up feel more at ease with Slack. In end it’s not the platform that makes a company, it’s how you lead community that makes a difference. Click here to learn more about leading a community.
